Ian Shiver is always up for making weird shit and that's why I wasn't surprised when he said yes to spending his Tuesday filling sandwiches with flowers. We hit the Italian market in South Philly and bought a few rolls from Sarcones Bakery and Wonderbread from the corner papi shop. What happened next was lunch time magic.
When the wonderfully weird world of pinball meets the wonderful world of Pabst Blue Ribbon. Last Spring, Pabst released their first pinball Machine, The Can Crusher...so we threw a party. Think pinball tournament, pop-up vintage arcade, and disco all in one. And if that wasn't enough to get the pinballers off their couches and into the party, the tournament winner received lifetime bowling at North Bowl Lounge n Lanes. The event ran from early evening into the night with Universal Cave DJs and a guest appearance by the Pabst Blue Ribbon Van, where guests could get their graffiti on with free spray paint outside of the venue. Peep my favorite recap images below!
Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory (Gene Wilder version) was one of the first films that I can remember that made me fall in love with set design. I wanted to live in that movie and every time I watched it I could imagine myself there.
Last spring I spent a couple of months assisting visual artist Gunnar Montana while he created a real life Wonka World at The Fillmore in Philadelphia. Think, Giant lollipops made out of pool noodles and peppermint centerpieces made out of crushed peppermint candies. It was an epic experience working alongside Gunnar and helping bring his massive vision to life. Check out some of my favorite images below by Love Shack Photography.
I've been borderline obsessed with all things Ikebana over the last year. So, I reached out to my creative and inspiring friend and Philadelphia photographer, Ian Shiver of Viva Love Photography to have some fun in his South Philly studio. I had a blast sourcing the props and flowers we used. (Check out those Hasami Porcelain bowls I found at Rikumo). I loved exploring Ikebana because it required SO much intentionality when arranging but also freedom in my ability to manipulate the materials we used. Check out a few of my favorites from our session together below!
Last weekend I had the opportunity to create the set for Prinze George's newest music video, 'Thunder in my Head'. I had a blast bringing the band and director's vision to life. Plus, exploring Maryland's countryside wasn't so shabby! Our locations consisted of a super-lush, super-green fern forest, a 350-acre farm that was full of wheat and a rocky creek in DC's Rock Creek Park. Check out a few snaps from the weekend on set below!
Yay this post if a LOOONNGG time coming and I'm so glad it's finally here! I've been putting off blogging for as long as I can remember so without further ado...here I am and here are my first and very public words!
This past December, I was invited to create a table design for a couture bridal event at the Fairmount Park Horticulture Center that was presented by Uncommon Events and STARR events. I have always been majorly impressed by the yearly event and was super excited to be asked to create a table design.
The design slate was blank and I was given some really incredible vendors (yay Bloomingdales)! The dripping candle runner was the first element I knew that I wanted to incorporate into the design and the rest is history.
I called in the fam squad to help dream up and execute this dream table. Let me know what you think below! Photography by M2 Photography.
